Engine & Transmission I
The engine to the Buick only had 27,000 miles on it and ran like brand new, so I did not feel a complete rebuild was necessary. Basically I disassembled it, honed the cylinders, new bearing, rings, cam bearings, oil pump, gaskets, and had the head redone to accept unleaded gas with new valve train components. All other bolt on components (starter, carburetor, generator, water pump, distributor,) were rebuilt or just repaired to original specs. Due to space constraints in my garage I needed to get the engine back in the car as soon as possible which is why the firewall of the car was painted . The engine started and runs like new. The transmission was also like new, so all I did was a complete disassemble, gaskets, torque ball rebuild kit, pressure plate, clutch disk and throw-out bearing. A couple pictures show the old original wiring harness, this was replaced with a new harness made by Rhode Island Wiring Harnesses which did a superb job. See the old harness !!
