History
My 49 Buick belonged to my grandmother who purchased it new in 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. She drove the car only until 1953 because of health reasons. My parents drove it a couple times in the next few years, once on their honeymoon to New Orleans in 1952.
The car was then garaged, and just sat until 1978 not to leave the garage for many years. I was always curios about
grandmas car as a kid but she did not like anyone messing with it. She was very protective of it.
In 1978 she passed away and we had to remove the Buick. We had it towed away to a friends service station. After doing the
usual fluid changes, cylinder oiling and gas draining, he had to replace a short piece of gas line and buy a battery. The car started and ran beautifully. It had19,000 original miles on it.
My dad drove the car a little here and there but it pretty much sat. We started it up and ran it occasionally.
In 1993 I received complete ownership of it with 24,000 original miles. The unique thing about this car was the interior, it was like new. The paint was bad and there was a light surface rust over most of the car. The car still had original tires, spark plugs, wires and brakes.
I replaced a few things through the years as they went bad like the fuel pump, water pump, exhaust system, hoses, but that
was about it.
I drove it around to local car cruises where it received a good amount of attention. It was surface rusted pretty badly,
under the hood was surface rusted, the interior was almost like new.
In 2001 I began to take it apart to bring it back to new condition. I will add pages to the site in time, so please
stop back. I will be painting around June of 2005.
